One of the most remote beaches from the capital city of Mykonos is Lia beach. It is located on the southeast part of the island, 12km from Chora. There is no transport connection with the beach, so you have to get there on your own. A great solution is to rent a car and the trip takes just 20-30 minutes.
Lija is suitable for those who like a quiet holiday, away from city life. Soft sand mixed with pebbles, clear water in all shades of blue, a few cozy cafes and equipped with deck chairs. The beach is surrounded by picturesque hills and this adds a special touch to the place.
What to do at the beach
It is quite quiet and secluded. This beach is ideal for relaxing on the sand, swimming in the sea, snorkeling, and diving.
It is best to come in the morning so that from 8 to 10 you can enjoy exploring the underwater world. There are special boats ashore that will take you to the most interesting sea views. Leah also offers speedboat rides with swimming in the open sea.
Afterwards you can sunbathe for a while and at the hottest time visit a bar or cafe on the Aegean coast.
It is quite windy here, so you can surf and catch a wave if you like outdoor activities. Or take a quad bike ride through the mountainous hills, which offer panoramic views of other parts of the island and the sea. Be sure to take unforgettable photos against the local scenery.
There is a special place on the beach for ball games, which will especially appeal to families with children. You can arrange competitions or just play volleyball, soccer.
Café and local food
On the beach there is a restaurant Liasti and a bar at the dive center. The cuisine is as delicious and fresh as the rest of the island. And the prices are just as high, but this is Mykonos and it's expensive.
You can order non-alcoholic cocktails right to your deck chairs or visit the facilities and cool off from the scorching sun. The restaurant has a great atmosphere with a view of the sea, friendly staff and good music playing.
Be sure to try the Greek salad, tuna tartare, calamari with black mayonnaise, pasta with lobster or other seafood.
They serve the freshest homemade bread and cheese slices. Very nice, and most importantly delicious desserts. At the end have a freshly squeezed juice or a refreshing fraiche.
In the evening, the restaurant turns into a dance club and if you haven't left yet, you can have a great time with incendiary music.
