Cape Promthep is considered to be the most ideal place to take long walks and enjoy the surrounding views in Phuket. This is the southernmost point of the island. Its main attraction is the nature.

Getting here is more convenient by renting a car. It takes about 30 minutes to get from Phuket Town. Near the observation deck there are numerous cafes where you can eat before a long hike.

Things to do at Promthep

The viewpoint is accessed by stairs with manicured terraces along the sides. It offers a beautiful view of Nai Harn Beach and the bay, the turquoise sea with the yachts and the neighboring islands. There are numerous paths, on which it is a pleasure to walk. It is especially beautiful at sunset. Most tourists come here to spend the departing sun.

There are gazebos, seating areas and unusual sculptures throughout the area. To get a better view of the opening scenery, the Thais have installed binoculars here. So everyone can admire the distant views as close as possible.

If you go higher up, the statue of God Brahma will meet you at the top. He is surrounded by elephants of different sizes. It is said that there are about 1,000 figures of them.

There is also a monument to the Prince of Thailand - Krom Luang Chumphon Monument. Nearby is a museum and a working lighthouse.

At the bottom of the observation deck is Cape Promtep itself. This is a narrow ledge of the island, which overlooks the sea. There is a thin path that leads to it, and the same incredible scenery opens up, but from a different angle.

Along the way you will come across stone pyramids that are built for luck. Everyone can add their own stone and make a wish that is sure to come true.

Also here you can swim in the clearest sea, go snorkeling, go shopping and find something interesting for yourself.

Tips

  • Be sure to visit Cape Promtep at sunset and stay until dark to experience its romantic atmosphere;
  • Have dinner at a waterfront restaurant with live music;
  • Wear comfortable shoes for the rocky trails to get down to the cape itself. Not every hiker reaches here, it's a more secluded spot.

It is a rather popular place and tourists come to the cape in droves, so the main tip - if you have a free day, allocate it for a visit to Promtepe. Many people come here with a tour, but it is best to go on your own. Leave your car in the parking lot and go for a walk along all the trails, relax and enjoy the local beauty, sunbathe on the local beach, swim, buy an unusual souvenir, taste the local food and leave when it is already dark. And then you will remember this day for a long time, and you will want to come back here again.
